I just wanted to let you know that I got my acceptance letter today for the Bachelor of Physical and Health Education program. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for you and had you not made me believe that I can go after my dreams. Thank you for everything you've done and know that you have had a huge impact on my life and for that I will always be grateful!
- C.W., Future B.P.H.E. student
I wanted to thank you for working with me and making it such a positive and helpful experience. I gained a lot from our time together that will help me move forward in my career and other areas of my life. You really helped me to regain a sense of self-confidence and self-empowerment. Thank you.
- A. G. Clinical Research Project Coordinator
I was hesitant to come at first. I had no idea how much you would have to offer. It was such a rewarding experience for me and has given me the much-needed boost I needed to keep my life roaring in the right direction.
It was a pleasure to have you guide me through these dark times in my personal and career life. You helped show me the light at the end of the tunnel. I'll never forget your kindness and words of wisdom.
- B.C., Business Communications Specialist
One of the things that was of the greatest help was to have someone give a structure to what I was thinking and to clarify those thoughts and ideas and to introduce practical thoughts, ideas and processes that I was not aware of. Once I was aware of what my goals needed to be, career counseling helped me achieve them and helped me to deal with, in more concrete terms, what had, and was, happening to me.
- K.G. Administrative Assistant
I really enjoyed sharing my thoughts and concerns within a group of women. I have experienced one-on-one counselling before, but this for me was a more rewarding dynamic. It helped me realize that I am not isolated with my issues. Most women have common struggles with their body issues. What was interesting was to learn how others really cope (or don’t). It also made me feel justified /confident in the way that I make my decisions and stick with them, even if it may hurt the feelings of others.
I learned the power emotions have in making healthy decisions in our lives – a check-in with our mental compass. These lessons have provided me with more wisdom than a chocolate bar ever could!
I was shocked to learn the powerful impact our parents emotional intelligence has on us, not only in childhood, but how we carry it with us. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my parents did a great job with my upbringing, despite their own insecurities… I am truly grateful to them for that. It gives me even greater confidence to trust my instincts in everything I do.
- K. S.M. Financial analyst
One of the most important things I learned about myself during this process is that my feelings serve a purpose to help me be aware of my emotions in situations, and can help guide me in making choices that benefit my needs. This knowledge will help me take care of my needs and put myself first once in a while. Most of all I got to know and appreciate Barbara and the other participants of the group on a personal level.

After our session last week, I spent a great deal of time considering my situation and how I might deal with it. I was talking with my girlfriend about my time with you, and how just being able to talk to someone, who has an un-biased, completely objective vantage point provided invaluable insight into my problems at work. I never imagined that spending just one hour with someone like you could really help put a perspective on things I never really considered before.
I gathered my thoughts and I've had two meetings with my boss about it. I suggested a few ideas on new directions we might take the company and my boss was completely enthusiastic about my ideas. In fact, he was appreciative that I took the time to talk to him about how we might not only identify the problem, but also take actions to solve it.
He wants me to take full control of what has now become a priority initiative. My head is spinning with ideas! Fantastic!

I have some good news. I have found a job. However, I will keep doing my "homework" and will keep working on the information you provided me with. We will see where this new job will take me.
On another note, I would like to thank you again for encouraging me to go to the Meetup group. I went again this month and have made one more friend who has introduced me to a lot of his friends and so I have found another way to meet more people!
Thank you so much for all your support, you have helped me immensely. You have provided me with the insight I needed to know which direction I should head and how to get the information I need for it.
Thanks again for everything! It was really great talking to you and I will miss our weekly sessions.

It has been almost a year since I have seen you and I wanted to tell you what I have been up to! I graduated with flying colours from the Foundation for Montessori Education. The time I spent there has taught me so much and given me a new philosophy on life - I absolutely loved it. I have just landed a teaching contract for the 2012-2013 school year at a local school and am very excited. I wanted to truly thank you for your help last summer - you were invaluable to me, and I am so much happier to be doing something I love, and knowing I have a bright future! I thank you again from the bottom of my heart!!
- A.D., Montessori Teacher
Thank you for your continual support and encouragement. The biggest and most important thing that you’ve helped me with is removing the many mental blocks which I couldn’t do on my own. You helped me filter out a lot of questions and helped me find simplified solutions so I could focus. Having someone to unscatter my thoughts has brought me so much closer than I expected. Thanks for your patience with me and not letting my negativity sometimes clog up my vision. I totally underestimated my strengths, which instead of trying to fight against my true nature, I will now appreciate and nurture. And I also thought it would be much more aggravating and intense to make my cover letter and resume, but finishing it in such a short period was immensely liberating. Thank you.
- T.D., Massage Therapist
I truly appreciate your guidance and support Barbara. You have enabled me to take my life into my own hands and direct my future, as much as is possible. Your words of advice are always with me and the activities you had me do really helped me to decide what I want for me. Thank you for helping me to be happy, hopeful, and positive!
- H.H., Urban Planner
Barbara helped me through one of the most difficult times of my life. I first went to see her because I was seeking a new career. When she learned I was struggling with personal problems—primarily, my inability to come to terms with my mother’s death—she helped me first to face and then to overcome many of these underlying problems. At the same time, we worked toward finding a far more fulfilling career, one that I am now pursuing. From our first meeting, I was aware that this is more than a job for her—she truly cares.
- L.J., Copy Editor
I feel blessed to have found such a wonderful counsellor who I could talk to with ease about so many issues. Thank you so much for all you have helped me with.
- L.S., Law Clerk
I struggled with depression for many years and felt stuck in the recovery process. Barbara’s constant support and gentle guidance have helped me identify my feelings, recognize my automatic thoughts and change my thinking patterns. She didn’t just offer me a quick fix solution; she helped me build the foundation for a whole new way of thinking. My outlook is changing for the better, and my family members and friends have noticed the difference.

I would like to thank Mrs. Fish for helping me to get back on my feet four years ago. I will never be able to express just how much you have changed my life. You have given me optimism and confidence where I once felt hopeless. It is a wonderful feeling to believe that I control my future.
- N.F., Psychology Graduate
Barbara, thank you so much for all your help. You were very patient and showed so much interest and concern. I feel as though a huge load was lifted after completing the counselling. I am now able to concentrate on the short and long-term goals created during this process. I am very happy to be able to move on to the next step in changing careers.
- M. F., Mortgage Insurance Specialist
Life is a learning process and you became one of my teachers who I will never forget.
- A.M., Intake Worker
Thanks for helping me through my emotional highs and lows, and for being so patient with me. Before coming to see you, I wondered if something was wrong with me. I felt like I was lacking something in terms of the tools that I had. You helped me see the value of what I do, and the style that I like to work. This acceptance of myself makes me feel more confident. I feel better equipped to set realistic goals for myself and to check in with myself to make sure that I’m on the right track.
- A.L., Web Developer
Barbara is a dedicated and caring professional who gives generously of her time and expertise and provides valuable insights. Anyone seeking her professional advice will, in my opinion, be very well served.
- N.S., Educational Consultant
I got exactly out of these sessions what I wanted to get: A real look inside myself to realize the activities that make me happy, and an understanding that this can be applied to a career. Also, that a drastic career change is feasible and manageable.
- K.S., Business Analyst
Barbara's sessions were a place of observant acceptance. The safety of her patience, empathy and insight equipped me with the knowledge that my challenges were not a fabrication, but very real and valid. From this, we further built upon the foundation for renewed self-awareness and explored the possibilities of overcoming depression, insecurities and creative paralysis.
I emerged with a set of lifestyle tools which maintain balance and optimism. Barbara helped me to realize that life's challenges, while impossible to eliminate, can be altered and managed through our own applications. Her wise, sometimes witty insights coupled with a sincere kindness have empowered me for many tomorrows. Thank you is hardly enough.
- T.M., Homemaker
I was greatly helped by your approach, the questions you asked, and your professionalism. Thanks again, Barbara.
- F. W., Nurse
I can't begin to thank you for everything you have done to help me carve a path through this challenging time in my personal and professional lives. I sincerely appreciate all of the insight, encouragement and wisdom you so tirelessly and generously offer me. I also want you to know how much your genuine concern, thoughtfulness, and understanding mean to me, particularly in light of the many obstacles to peace and happiness that I continue to face. I feel so fortunate that you came into my life and for that, I will always be grateful. Thank you.
- H.M., Policy Analyst
From the first session, I felt very comfortable expressing my concerns and problems. I was able to answer some very important questions and experience things on my own that would likely have never happened at home with constant family pressure. Had I not worked with you I likely would be wasting my time in other lines of work that I would not enjoy, be stimulated by or that are not rewarding. Working with you was a major turning point in regards to which career areas I should embark on. This in turn has helped increase my self-confidence and made me feel better about myself. I would recommend your services to others and consider you a mentor. I definitely turned a corner thanks to your help this summer and wanted to thank you again.
